My wife and I got to go get an ultrasound yesterday. It was our first experience, our first child, and we were…… overwhelmed.
Honestly, I think we both thought, it’s no big deal and we probably won’t be able to see anything other than a blob that supposedly looks like a half-formed child. Apparently, ultrasounds have either gotten really good over the last few years, or our experience was atypical.
What we got was a little baby that waved little stubs of arms at us and did a little Irish jig with a heartbeat around 166 bpm.
It was a surreal experience. I am assuming that surreal quality continues at least till our fifth or sixth night of no sleep after the baby is born?

Actually the lack of sleep tends to make things more surreal, not less. (mother of a six month old)
oi. Might have to reconsider the name ‘Salvador’ huh?
w00t! Congratulations to you both!!!
Congratulations! This is wonderful news. I remember our son’s first ultrasound. We actually had to get it because of a very minor complication but when you look at that little lima bean – well I think we both cried. I’m so happy for you and your good news.
Thanks guys. We are excited, scared, and a bit paranoid all at the same time. Since I am planning on keeping the blog going, it will be interesting to think one day of our child reading all these little posts about them.
Beth: I’ve been following your spiral moleskin craze lately via feed. Any chance of working some endless knots into those?
Brian: I was wondering if you were still alive. Not much updating going on at the cave lately
Are you writing anywhere else too or just doing code work?
Deb: Hey, thanks for stopping by. Everyone is making the same analogy to beans and peanuts. Me? Well, I am just hoping it’s human!
Hmm, I hadn’t considered endless knots. I know what you’re talking about. I’ve tried doing “celtic knots” with the how-to books before, little dots and arches, but they were too picky for me. But there might be something in between….
