I am in the process of a new painting. I think I am coming back to my more abstract roots. The new piece is halfway done but already beginning to look pretty cool.
I’d post a picture, but it’s on the drying rack before the second layer is applied. Maybe soon.
Today has been an interesting day. I’ve embarked on some new blog projects with a friend (not yet to be named). Some of these projects are potentially big deals and could be pretty good investments of time and energy, but most of all they promise to be fun.

So I spent some time today on putting together a business card for my wife. I erased the phone number for presentation here, but I am pretty pleased with the outcome.
My wife, Rebecca is also an artist. Actually, she is usually better than me (in my opinion). She has recently embarked on producing pet portraits.
So I am proud to announce Climb Tree Art

By the way, this portrait above is our puppy Dugal sleeping. He’s a little red cocker spaniel pup. Still under a year old.
You can get a portrait of your pet for $50 at www.climbtree.com (spread the news).
Affiliate marketing opportunity may be coming soon on Climb Tree Art as well. Probably around $2 per signup.
I’ve been spending some time with my dry medias lately… Conte, Pastel, Charcoal…
This is a mixture of all three entitled “when the wind blows“.

I broke out the pastels today as well. Berry was my first attempt in quite awhile doing anything with pastels. I definitely need to brush up on my pastel work.
I like it though.
The colorblind series is part of my initiative to get back to basics with only using primary and secondary colors. I decided to go with markers for this project because of their vibrancy (despite looking slightly childish). Prismacolor Art Markers to be precise. I am really enjoying these by the way. Mainly these are done quickly so that I can not think too much about colors and have to do it on the fly. Granted, I am not really worried if the color is correct as a rule here, I am just going with the color that seems to “feel” the best as I do the work.
Oh, and the name… “The Colorblind Series”
I am colorblind with reds and greens of the same color value. They kinda drive me nuts. (blues and purples are a pain in the butt too).

I wish I could claim this work, but actually my wife did it. She has been incorporating some of my own style into her artwork lately while I’ve been grappling with where I want to move next with my art.
Mainly, the thing is that I know what I want to do, but unsure how to go about it, yet independent enough to worry if I even tried to explain it, someone else would take the idea and run.
I hate when I overthink it so much.
Wait.
That’s what abstract art is supposed to do, right?
Make you think.
Currently this painting is staring at my back and making me wonder if someone is watching.
Can you say paranoia?
If you are interested in buying “Iris” – it’s 11″ x 14″ Acrylic on canvas.
update: the name is not “the eye” it’s Iris as my wonderful wife informed me…
I’ve been in a bit of a rut lately, and decided I would try something a little different to get going again. Here is a new painting that I just finished today. I also came up with a new pricing method to price my paintings. More on that when I get the prices set in the gallery.

Lately, I had got into making and distributing some ACEO cards. Well, unfortunately none actually sold so being burnt on the ACEO size (and not being able to find a decent online printer that will print them at decent prices) I decided to make some more personable art that I could distribute and happens to be more wallet friendly. I’ll still do the ACEO size for myself just because I enjoy it and it’s a great way to get some practice in on some different styles without over committing to some large canvas and the waste of a lot of paint.
Here are a few manifestations of my first foray into this non-ACEO sized digital art form. This will be printed and individually signed when I have the cash to do so. Then I am sure the first few will be given out randomly at a coffee shop somewhere.

Here is my newest ACEO creation inspired by the book of Kells.
Each of apostles was represented differently. St. John was represented as an Eagle.
