The Colorblind Series – Nature #1

April 15, 2008  |  Art  |

The colorblind series is part of my initiative to get back to basics with only using primary and secondary colors.  I decided to go with markers for this project because of their vibrancy (despite looking slightly childish).  Prismacolor Art Markers to be precise.  I am really enjoying these by the way.  Mainly these are done quickly so that I can not think too much about colors and have to do it on the fly.  Granted, I am not really worried if the color is correct as a rule here, I am just going with the color that seems to “feel” the best as I do the work.

Oh, and the name… “The Colorblind Series”

I am colorblind with reds and greens of the same color value.  They kinda drive me nuts.  (blues and purples are a pain in the butt too).

  1. I adore this “Colorblind Series.” It’s child-like but very controlled/loose. I love the colors. Good work! I was always trained in art to work loosely, quickly and not think about what you’re doing too much at first. This seems to be a “prime” example!
    yeah!
