The day after Christmas. Usually a clean up day where you avoid cleaning and play with all the new loot that you scored on Christmas. I mean you might as well wait till after New Years cause you have enough leftovers to get you through the new year, you might not even have to be back to work till after the first and the kids are busy playing with their new toys (or sleeping like mine is from a full day yesterday that completely wore him out).
For me, it’s a day of reading and maybe writing a post or two, doing some artwork and getting back to the job search with a resolution to find something soon. But first the reading:
Here’s the books I scored this Christmas:
- Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller (soon to be made into a movie directed by one of my favorite people, Steve Taylor)
- Till We Have Faces by CS Lewis. One of his lesser known works that I read awhile back but never owned.
- Monster by Frank Peretti.
But, I am curious, what are you reading? What’d you get for Christmas? What kind of loot did you score? You don’t have to share the whole enchilada, unless of course you got a gift card to your favorite Mexican restaurant…

Howie got me a Hamilton Beach Big Mouth food processor which doubles both the power and capacity of my old 7-cup HB model. Argh! Argh! Argh! The best score was a 12-cup French press. He did great one that one — I’ve wanted a French press for years, and you’ve gotta love it when a $50 item turns up at Goodwill for two bucks! Thanks to my folks, I have also been inducted into the Snuggie cult.
12 Cup french press?! I guess I didn’t realize you could get them that big. Since I know you’ve already used the french press and the snuggie, have you broken out the food processor yet? What’d you make?
I got a fork that tells the temp of the meat your cooking. That’s all. We had a great Christmas. I am currently reading D.L. Moody on Spiritual Leadership. I recently finished Forgotten God (reversing our tragic neglect of the Holy Spirit).
Brad, so now you really can “stick a fork in it” ? You might want to bring that to the men’s Bible Study some Wednesday for Eric when you get him going with some of his ‘fodder’ .
The “Forgotten God” book sounds good. I may have to check that out soon. I would have to agree that there is a “tragic neglect” of the Holy Spirit today among Christians. What would you say are steps to reversing that today?
My favorite gift would our little guy learning to walk the week of Christmas! Material wise I would have to say the ipod touch my hubby got me and all the stuff to go with it! I haven’t put it down since I got it!
Oh. And…. I don’t have time to read any more
But I’m trying to get through Ender’s Game that a co-worker of mine loaned to me.
that’s a “one up” if I ever saw it… oh, but I got the same gift. Hehe. Walking yes, but staying up after 4-6 steps? still working on it.
